About Swordhouse
Swordhouse began in 2020 as a consultancy helping mission-based nonprofits improve communications and fundraising. After working with nearly a dozen organizations, we saw the same patterns repeat: fragmented systems, cultural barriers, and no sector-wide solution for movement-building. We’re now scaling beyond 1:1 services to design the first Movement Management Tool for nonprofits—grounded in direct feedback from nonprofit leaders.
Purpose
We’re recruiting a UX Design Fellow to translate research and diagnostic insights into a clickable prototype of the Movement Management Tool. You’ll shape the end-to-end user experience for five core features and deliver a prototype and design system ready for engineering handoff.
Core features you’ll design:
Journey Mapping — step-by-step pathways (awareness → action → follow-up)
Collaborative Idea Hub — post, tag, and approve ideas before mapping
Momentum Tracking — real-time signals on advancing vs. drifting journeys
Journey Trends Dashboard — what works across the sector
Narrative Score & Ecosystem Map — evaluate messaging and visualize networks
UX Design Fellow: Objectives & Responsibilities
Conduct UX research and nonprofit user-journey mapping
Wireframe and prototype flows for all five features (Figma/Adobe XD or similar)
Plan and run usability tests with nonprofit leaders; iterate based on findings
Deliver design specs, component library, and documentation for developer handoff (Spring 2026)
Skills You’ll Gain
UX & human-centered design practice for social impact
Wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing
Product thinking, information architecture, and design systems
Real-world collaboration with domain experts and end users
Ideal Applicant
Student in UX/UI, HCI, product design, computer science, or related fields
Portfolio showing interaction design or prototypes (coursework welcome)
Strong problem-solving and data-synthesis skills; curious, empathetic, self-directed
Interest in social tech and nonprofit innovation
Timeline
Application Deadline: December 15, 2025
Internship Dates: January – February 2026
Key Deliverable: App Prototype (Feb 2026) — fully mapped UX flow, interactive prototype, and design system ready for engineering build
